Do We Need 10Gbs USB 3.0?

There has been much debate as to whether or not we need faster USB 3.0. Currently, almost all digital devices which support USB still us USB 2.0, which is fast enough for most tasks, such as printing, scanning, Blu-Ray & DVD burners, etc.
We're not sure when we're going to see this come about - version 1.0 was released in 2008, but we didn't really see it widely adopted until last year. A Microsoft manager was quoted as saying: "These updates will enable higher data rates and allow combining of disk, high-definition audio/video, and networking traffic on a single cable - all while maintaining compatibility with billions of existing devices"
Even once this update is in place, Thunderbolt ports will still have double the bandwidth.
