We're not sure when we're going to see this come about - version 1.0 was released in 2008, but we didn't really see it widely adopted until last year. A Microsoft manager was quoted as saying: "These updates will enable higher data rates and allow combining of disk, high-definition audio/video, and networking traffic on a single cable - all while maintaining compatibility with billions of existing devices"
Even once this update is in place, Thunderbolt ports will still have double the bandwidth.
